Premier Interlink provided a 16 bay modular building, part single and part 2-storey for use by Suffolk PCT as a Darzi centre, comprising: Doctor's surgery; 6 consulting rooms; 2 treatment rooms; staff rooms upstairs; platform lift; reception/waiting room. “The building is marvellous. It feels like a permanent, traditional building – everyone comments on how nice it is. It’s very well insulated. The floors feel very stable. Fixtures such as windows, doors, stairs etc are of a high standard and good quality. This Darzi centre is a 3 year temporary building. Colleagues from other surgeries have visited the new building and said “Wow – it’s better than our permanent buildings” Over 1000 patients have visited in the first month and there is a complete new workforce, with everyone happy and positive about the centre. Moral has been noticeably effected by the quality of the building – and has been helped by the positive comments from public and staff. The quality of building helps to make patients feel comfortable and maintain a clinical and professional healthcare centre. It’s important to have it looking clinical – especially from a patient’s point of view – and that’s what we have been able to achieve to a very high standard. Light was thought to be an issue. Planning stated that some windows needed to be screened out, but the artificial light installed by Waco is so good that you don’t notice it’s not real sunlight.
